(1954 - 2016)

Elizabeth “Libby” Gunn Scott, 62, longtime Vienna, VA, resident passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at her home of natural causes. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and passionate activist.

Following her decades-long career as a flight attendant, she worked for the Clinton administration at the White House, coordinated political campaigns in northern Virginia, and was Assistant to the Head of School at Green Hedges School in Vienna, VA, for the last 13 years.

Libby was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Gunn May, in 2007, her father, Colin James Gunn, in 1971, and brother, Michael Newton Gunn in 1962. She will be missed and remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Randolph and Shannon Scott of Wayland, MA; and her grandchildren, Jackson and Emma; her daughter and future son-in-law, Margaret Scott and Jarred Steiner of Vienna, VA; her son and his girlfriend, John Scott and Kristyn Prendergast of Arlington, VA; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Patti Gunn of San Diego, CA and David and Anna Gunn of Gilbert, AZ; and her friends and colleagues at Green Hedges School in Vienna, VA.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in Oakton, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor suggested to The Children’s Defense Fund, www.childrensdefense.org.
