Roberta Dusenbery
Berta Dusenbery loved and was loved by so many. She cherished the Pacific Northwest but was always looking for a sunny day. First and foremost in her heart were her husband, Ken Moran, and their children, Alison and Jack. Berta was born June 3, 1954, in Portland and raised in Lake Oswego. A 1972 graduate of Lake Oswego High School, she received her B.A. from Lewis and Clark College in 1976 and her M.A.T. from Portland State University. For more than twenty years, she shared her love of literature with her students and colleagues as a teacher at Ackerman Middle School in Canby. Wide and deep circles of family, friends and community were her greatest joy. And the love that lit up her eyes and her infectious laughter will be remembered by all.
She will be missed by her brother, Van, sister-in-law, Liz Coville, and nieces, Maya and Lisa, of St. Paul, Minnesota; by her in-laws, Dennis Moran and Betsy Hayford and their children, Kurt, Katie and Michaela, of Portland, and John Moran and Margaret Bowie and their children, Alexis and Caitlin, of Gainesville, Florida; and by her many other family, neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Bea Boe Dusenbery.
Berta died May 24, 2002, of kidney cancer. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Robert N. Franz Cancer Research Center at Portland Providence Medical Center.
A celebration of her life will be held August 4, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. at the alumni circle at Lewis and Clark College.
We all loved her very much.
